The Brookhaven Landfill: Polluting Suffolk County, New York since 1974
The Brookhaven Landfill is a dangerous source of pollution in our community causing water contamination, noxious odors, widespread air and noise pollution, and other environmental effects related to serious health risks.
Exposing environmental injustice in North Bellport.
Polluting infrastructure and activities that majorly impact people’s health and quality of life are not evenly shared among people living on Long Island. North Bellport, a predominantly Black, Indigenous, and Latinx community has been disproportionately targeted by industrial development associated with the Brookhaven Landfill.
“The environmental justice movement isn't seeking to simply redistribute environmental harms, but to abolish them.”
